Hagen-Renaker's "Salamander" is now retired!.
This piece is a high gloss fired glaze finish on a Ceramic clay base that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired " finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees, dependent as to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
Hagen-Renaker, fine Potteries since 1946, still family owned AND; HANDCRAFTED IN AMERICA!
This "salamander" measures 1 3/4" long (from the tip of the nose to tail). It is 1 1/8" wide (at widest points, right toe to edge of left foot).
This little guy is a golden yellow, with random black markings on the body and tail. The HUGE black eyes (simple dots), and open mouth smiling at you, draw you in to say "take me home!"
The entire piece has been coated with opalescent lustre overglaze (of course, fired-on), to give a beautiful shiny sheen.
COLLECTORS....this is NOW a RETIRED item!!!
Location:Hagen-Renaker bin, Flr 101.
