"Pterodactyl" measures 1 3/8" (front to back), 1 1/2" tall, by 2 1/2" wide (from wing to wing, tips).
This piece is a high gloss fired glaze finish on a Ceramic clay base that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired " finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees, dependent as to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
Hagen-Renaker, fine Potteries since 1946, still family owned AND; HANDCRAFTED IN AMERICA!
This piece has minimal detailing with black on the eyes and a thin line to define the mouth (bill), then an overall color of a 'Fern green' semi-translucent gloss glaze (thus this gives shading and shadows on the details of the reptile).
