04178LN-''Burmese" Easter Basket (click on picture for full description)
[04178LN]
$129.50

8 1/2'' tall, by 7" wide, "Burmese" Treasures Easter Basket.
This beautiful basket was introduced for the spring 2008 season.
Delicate 'aster' type flowers adorn the inside of the basket bowl. Pale green accents for the foliage, connect the white flowers. The centers of the flowers are appropriately accented with yellow, rust, green, and white. The painting truly adds to the shape and elegance of this basket.
This open shape basket lends itself for serving such treats as bon-bons. Try it, your guests will feel special.

Burmese was the name given this beautiful treatment in 1885 by its creator Frederick Shirley, of the Mt. Washington Glass Company in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The first "Burmese glass" produced between 1885-1900, as legend states, acquired the name from Queen Victoria. Who, upon receipt of a gift of this glass, was said to have exclaimed that the rich tones of blushing pink reminded her of a Burmese sunset. Enamored with the soft translucent beauty of Burmese, Fenton Glass chemist Charles W. Goe experimented with pure gold and a variety of chemical variations over a period of many years until he found just the right formula to faithfully reproduce the delicate blushing loveliness of the original Burmese treatment.
