Rich "Chocolate Art Glass" ranges in color from a deep mocha shade to a milky cocoa color, and no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Dating back to 1907 at Fenton, "Chocolate" glass is a collector favorite, specially reissued to celebrate Fenton's 100th anniversary; each of these 'Atlantis' vases bears the 100th Anniversary backstamp.
The 'Atlantis' vase mould was designed by Robert May for the Duncan & Miller Glass Company. The mould was later acquired by U. S. Glass in 1955.
Fenton bought the mould from U. S. Glass in 1969.
Fenton has used the mould for different glass colors since then.
This piece measures approximately 6" tall. A heavily poured piece, it is most durable for table usage.
***DESIGNER'S NOTE***I can see this piece used for a serving dish for the table. A rich chunky chowder, or a Remoulade sauced shrimp salad...YUM, YUM...would serve 4 to 6 diners from this "vessel"!!!
