Antique Pitcher by "Victoria" Schmidt & Co.
Beautiful Floral Pattern, including "Gold Relief". "Gold Relief" is a raised design done with enamels, fired-on.
Then gold is applied and fired-on to the raised enamel design.
Generally, this is done AFTER all the china painting has been done; thus this means an additional firing.
Porcelain with this Makers Mark was manufactured in Austria from 1891 - 1918
Estimated Circa for this particular pitcher is 1899.
Markers Mark visible on bottom of pitcher.
Stands 11 1/4" Tall.
Base is 4 1/2" wide on bottom at widest points; and 7" across from outside handle to tip of spout (widest points).
Looks to be a lovely Hand Painted floral design, using pinks, lavender, peach, darker rose, with various shades of green and yellow for the 'grounding'
with the foliage; throughout the pattern, it is accented with Gold Relief.
The handle was originally totally covered with the fired-on Gold.
Possible usage for an actual "working pitcher" wear is shown, on the handle, and some on the spout...
Yet...NO STAINING ON THE INSIDE AT ALL!
Delicate scrolls of gold accentuate the design on the spout, and a band of gold finishes off the graceful sculpture around the base, and one on the rim.
