HR251 - Mama Caterpiller
This "Ma Caterpillar" is
BEAUTIFULLY DETAILED!
The mould sculpturing, as well as, the painting is EXTREMELY well done.
"Ma & Pa Caterpillars" were produced from the 1950s, untill the
1980s. Many variations were done through the years.
This "Ma" has her eyes open; defined with simple black dots.
She has a delicate smile, also defined with black.
Her bonnet is a light yellow-green.
Her lime green body is softly air-brushed with a smokey color along the
base for emphasis.
"Ma Caterpillar measures 1" tall, 5/8" wide (front to back), and 1 1/4"
long (from the edge of bonnet to tip of tail).
This piece is a high gloss fired glaze finish on a Ceramic clay base
that was fired to approximately 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
All of the Hagen Renaker miniatures listed on our website are "Fired "
finishes; thus making them pieces of "China". Most of the pieces
undergo at least two (2), with some having three (3) firings in a
Ceramic kiln. Temperatures will vary from 2500 degrees to 1650 degrees,
dependent as to a greenware (raw clay) firing, a glaze firing, or an
overglaze (lustre, gold, or platinum) firing.
Hagen-Renaker, fine Potteries since 1946, still family owned AND;
